A Journey Through Southeast Asia

Reading

Last year, I took a three-month trip through Southeast Asia. It was the most incredible experience of my life.

I started in Thailand, where I explored the busy streets of Bangkok. The temples were magnificent, and the street food was absolutely delicious. I particularly enjoyed pad Thai and mango sticky rice.

From Thailand, I travelled to Vietnam. I spent a week in Hanoi, where I fell in love with the culture. The city is a fascinating mix of old and new — ancient temples next to modern skyscrapers. I also took a boat tour of Ha Long Bay, which was breathtaking.

Next, I visited Cambodia to see Angkor Wat. Nothing I had seen in photographs could prepare me for the reality. The enormous temple complex was built over 800 years ago, and it remains one of the most impressive structures in the world.

I finished my trip in Indonesia, where I spent two weeks on the island of Bali. I practiced yoga, surfed on beautiful beaches, and visited rice terraces in Ubud.

The trip taught me many things. I learned that people everywhere are generous and welcoming, even when you don’t speak their language. I discovered that the best experiences come from stepping outside your comfort zone.

“Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer,” someone once said. After this trip, I completely agree.
