My First Day at Work
Read and practice vocabulary with this graded reading passage
Reading
Sarah was very nervous on her first day at her new job. She arrived at the office early because she didn’t want to be late. Her new boss, Mr. Thompson, was very friendly. He introduced her to the team and showed her around the building.
“Don’t worry,” he said with a smile. “Everyone is very helpful here. If you have any questions, just ask.”
Sarah’s desk was near a window with a nice view of the park. Her colleague, Lisa, offered to help her with the computer system. By lunch time, Sarah was feeling much more comfortable. She joined the team for lunch at a nearby café.
“I think I’m going to enjoy working here,” Sarah told Lisa. “Everyone has been so kind to me.”
“That’s great to hear!” Lisa replied. “We’re happy to have you on the team.”
