Reading
Tom hadn’t been feeling well for a few days. He had a bad headache, a sore throat, and he was very tired. His wife suggested he go to see the doctor.
At the clinic, the receptionist asked him to fill in a form with his details. Then he sat in the waiting room for about twenty minutes.
“Mr. Johnson?” the nurse called his name. She took his temperature and blood pressure before the doctor came in.
Dr. Patel examined Tom carefully. “You have a fever and your throat is quite red,” she said. “I think you have the flu. You need to rest at home, drink plenty of water, and take this medicine twice a day.”
“How long will it take to get better?” Tom asked.
“Usually about a week,” Dr. Patel replied. “But if you don’t improve in three days, please come back.”
Tom thanked the doctor and went to the pharmacy to get his medicine. He was glad he had finally gone to the doctor.
