Why Antigravity?

My personal story and why I chose Google Antigravity as my primary coding tool

The Story

My workflow used to be pretty “traditional”: open VSCode, Google everything constantly, copy-paste from StackOverflow, then debug with console.log. Every new feature took hours just to set up the boilerplate.

Then I switched to Cursor AI. Credit where it’s due — it was good. Smart autocomplete, convenient inline chat, and noticeably faster coding. I especially loved Cursor’s todo feature — it made breaking down tasks super convenient. But after a while, I realized Cursor was still mostly reactive — it suggests when you ask, fixes when you point. When builds failed, I could copy errors from the terminal and paste them for Cursor to read — it worked, but the process was manual.

Then I tried Antigravity. At first I was skeptical — just another AI IDE, right? But after a few days, I realized it was completely different. Antigravity doesn’t just suggest code — it understands the entire project, reads the codebase, opens the terminal to run commands, and even fixes its own mistakes when builds fail. What really blew me away is that it launches a browser on its own, takes screenshots, injects JavaScript to inspect pages, and continuously monitors terminal output. Full automation.

My workflow now is simply: create the plan → review & refine the plan → Antigravity implements & verifies locally → I verify a 2nd time → GitHub bot verifies a 3rd time. Three layers of checks, and all I need to focus on is ideas and review.

And why I’ve stuck with it? The AI Pro / Ultra plan is part of the Google One ecosystem. That means beyond Antigravity credits, you also get the full Google One benefits — storage, Gemini Advanced, and much more across the Google ecosystem. The credits are very generous for the price, especially if you’re already using Google services.

A real example? Here are products I built using Antigravity’s features: Rượu Nếp Miền Trung and chiatien.org — from UI design, coding, to deployment, most of it was powered by Antigravity.

This series documents my journey from first installation to building a professional workflow with Antigravity.

Real Benefits

🚀 3-5x Development Speed Things that used to take half a day — building new pages, refactoring components, writing tests — now just need a description in plain language and Antigravity handles the heavy lifting. I focus on logic and design instead of typing boilerplate.

🧠 Understands the Whole Project, Not Just the Open File Unlike Copilot or Cursor which only see the current file, Antigravity reads the entire codebase. It knows which design tokens the project uses, where configs live, what commands run tests. Refactoring 10 files at once? Easy.

🔧 Agentic — Runs and Fixes on Its Own Antigravity doesn’t stop at suggestions. It opens the terminal, runs pnpm dev, catches build errors, fixes them, and re-runs. I sit back and review instead of debugging.

🌐 Browser Subagent — Agent Controls the Browser This is what sets it apart the most. Antigravity has a dedicated browser subagent — the agent opens a browser itself, navigates, clicks, takes screenshots, compares mobile vs desktop. Not just for UI testing, but also for workflow automation, and even lead generation. It sees what you see on the browser — and acts on its own.

📂 Agent Kit — Custom Rules for Each Project Every project can have its own rules, skills, and workflows (.agent/). Antigravity reads and follows them. It’s like having a junior dev who knows every convention your team uses.

💰 Google One — Outstanding Value The AI plan is part of Google One, so you’re not just paying for Antigravity — you get the entire Google ecosystem: storage, Gemini Advanced, Google Photos editing, and much more. Antigravity credits are also very generous for the price.
